Confidentiality, Privacy, and Data Retention Policy
Will information about my family be kept confidential?
Any information you give me, either verbally or in writing, regarding your child or your family will be treated as confidential. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and know of my responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act of 2018.
Rest assured, any information about your child is stored electronically and password protected. Any paperwork will not have full names and is only kept while it is functional. Once the tutoring period ends, the child’s work will be given to them or securely shredded, ensuring the utmost confidentiality and data protection.
Can any information about my child be discussed or shared with anybody outside their tuition sessions?
It's important to note that information about your child will not be shared with anyone else except those named on initial agreements (namely parents/carers). However, in the case of tutoring within the school, only necessary verbal feedback will be given to the teacher. I want to reassure you that I will disclose confidential information to the relevant authorities only if there appears to be a safeguarding issue that potentially affects a child’s welfare or safety, ensuring the strictest limitations on information sharing.
What is a parent/carer's responsibility regarding confidentiality?
As part of our working relationship, you may encounter information about me and my family. It's crucial that this information is kept confidential to respect my family’s privacy. I trust in your understanding and commitment to not discuss any personal information you see, hear, or are informed about with anyone else. For a comprehensive understanding of your data rights, I encourage you to visit the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website.
